Mighty Afrin: in the time of floods represents the culmination of Angelos Rallis’s long-term engagement with environmental and humanitarian crises, marking his most internationally circulated work to date.

The film was nominated for the Golden Alexander at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival (2023). It has received 22 international awards and 45 nominations, and has screened at 90 festivals worldwide, including the Shanghai International Film Festival, the International Film Festival of India, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, the Giffoni Film Festival, and the Vancouver International Film Festival, among others. Seven of these are European Film Academy Awards–qualifying festivals.

The film was also nominated for Best Documentary and Best Cinematography at the Hellenic Film Academy (Iris) Awards. It was broadcast in Greece on ERT and ERTFLIX, on Al Jazeera (MENA region), and on ZDF/ARTE in Germany, France, Belgium, and Austria, and is available on ARTE’s digital platform until 2028. The film received theatrical distribution in Greece for adults and children by Neaniko Plano and in Italy by current co-production partner The Piranesi Experience.
